The 30th anniversary season for the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra offers array of concerts and special events that showcase the Emerald Coast’s first fully professional orchestra and celebrate the NFSO’s “String of Pearls” season. Highlights of the 2016-17 NFSO season include two star-studded Special Event concerts, guest artists from around the globe, and the introduction of “Symphony Sunday” – with a new NFSO afternoon matinee concert.

As the NFSO’s 30th Anniversary Season coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center, a gala joint-anniversary Special Event on Saturday, January 21, 2017 will celebrate both milestones with “An Evening with Jason Alexander” - featuring the TV, film and Broadway star! Long before becoming world renowned as the iconic George Costanza on SEINFELD, Jason Alexander was a Tony Award winning Broadway song and dance man. His evening at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center brings a hilarious re-telling of his journey to and on the Broadway stage which features a program of great music from the theater along with comedy and audience interaction. It’s a much heralded night of music, laughter and fun -- all backed by the NFSO! The joint Anniversary Special Event includes a dessert & beverage anniversary tribute for all attendees during intermission. Guest Artist Recital - Aristo Sham - Piano
International & national guest artists appear in the popular NFSO sponsored Guest Artist Recital Series. Renowned artists perform in solo concerts in the Tyler Recital Hall of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville, FL. The Guest Artist who will appear February 18, 2017 is piano virtuoso ARISTO SHAM of Hong Kong. Sham is the Gold Medal winner of the 65th Wideman International Piano Competition and is a 20-year -old classical pianist who is a rising star world-wide. A child musical prodigy he joined the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts at the age of six. He is currently pursuing BA/MMus degrees as a joint programme at Harvard University and New England Conservatory. He has given recitals on four continents and has played for Prince Andrew at Windsor Castle, and the Queen of Belgium and President Hu of China on their respective visits to Hong Kong. Aristo was featured in the documentary ‘The World’s Greatest Musical Prodigies’, broadcast in the United Kingdom, and is a Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM). Symphony of Taste - Food & Wine Fest and Silent Auction
The Northwest Florida Symphony Guild hosts its major annual fundraiser to support the NFSO and youth music education programs with the 26th annual SYMPHONY OF TASTE INTERNATIONAL FOOD & WINE TASTING FESTIVAL and SILENT AUCTION on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the spacious Student Services Center on the Niceville campus of Northwest Florida State College at 100 College Boulevard East. Enjoy a selection of wines and tastings from the area’s finest restaurants along with musical entertainment and a silent auction. Advance tickets are $40 or $45 at the door. Join the NFSO Guild and receive a discount of $35 per ticket.

Weng is a laureate of the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition, the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition for Young Musicians, The New York International Piano Competition, the Kosciuzsko Foundation Chopin Competition, the Wideman International Piano Competition, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition. Mr. Weng has been featured in concerts across Europe, China, Japan, Brazil, and Venezuela, and has performed in many of the world’s renowned concert halls, including Boston’s Symphony Hall, New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, SubCulture, the Salle Cortot, and the Sala Sao Paol.
