NFSO

Sat. April 12, 2014, 7:30 pm - A German Spring Celebration

Spring is in the air at the NFSO's season finale concert! Celebrate with a performance of Robert Schumann's "Spring" Symphony" and the great Felix Mendelssohn's Overture to the Beautiful Melusine, Mendelssohn's musical depiction of the story of the Little Mermaid. The stage will be filled to capacity as the NFSO concludes the evening with Beethoven's majestic Choral Fantasy, featuring a return engagement of guest artist Asiya Korepanova who wowed NFSO patrons at our season opening concert with her remarkable talent and delicate beauty. Asiya graciously accepted our invitation to return to the stage with the NFSO following the unexpected cancelation of the previously announced soloist, Alexander Krichel of Germany due to personal reasons.

Two Decades of Classical Excellence

The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (NFSO) is the region's premiere professional symphony and was established in 1987. The NFSO performs in residence at the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida.  A custom orchestra shell, used for NFSO concerts at the center, provides patrons an optimum acoustical experience. The NFSO also performs at special events throughout the region, provides an extensive music education program for area youth, and has a vibrant guild of volunteers who support orchestra endeavors. The NFSO performs under the baton of Jeffrey Rink, who holds the Mattie Kelly Distinguished Endowed Teaching Chair in Orchestral Music and serves as the NFSO's full-time music director and conductor.
